Bundeswehr sends combat helicopter “Tiger” into retirement – Politics

The vulnerable attack helicopter is becoming a discontinued model. Instead of overhauling the “Tiger” technically, the Ministry of Defense switched to lighter helicopters. There is also a risk of losing know-how.

Another directional decision has been made in the Bundeswehr. Germany is no longer involved in the urgently needed modernization of the Tiger-combat helicopter. With the so-called tigerMk IIIprogram, to which Spain and France have already committed themselves as other user nations, the helicopters should be fundamentally technically revised. However, Germany has had bad experiences with the one originally developed together with France tiger made.
