The Bundeswehr lacks many things, but not toilet paper. At an online auction, she is now offering, among other things, pallets of surplus toilet paper for sale. But interested parties should definitely pay attention to a small detail.

Twelve pallets, 360 boxes, 3.3 tons transport weight. These are the key data of the goods that the Bundeswehr has offered for sale online via the federal collecting society “vebeg”. But there is one special feature: the unwinding device. It is different from the standard roll that everyone has at home. Therefore it does not fit on universal dispensers. And that was also the fate of the federal government, which obviously had not calculated it.

“At the end of 2020, it was decided to replace the toilet paper dispensers from one company with the universal hygiene dispensers from another provider in the Bundeswehr sanitary facilities. However, the toilet paper from the first company cannot be used in a universal hygiene dispenser,” writes a spokesman for the Federal Office for Infrastructure , environmental protection and services of the Bundeswehr on RTL request. The existing toilet paper would be used up as much as possible. But apparently it’s still too much.

Not only offered toilet paper

Interested parties can pick up the toilet paper in the Schill barracks in Wesel (NRW). The auction runs until May 31st. But before a visit, buyers must register, according to the ad. The Bundeswehr strongly recommends that you inspect the goods before you buy them. This is the only way to ensure that it has not been damaged. Or used? However.

Incidentally, toilet paper is not the only product that interested parties can purchase from the Bundeswehr. Printer toners, desks and laptops are also for sale. So the next time you want to shop on eBay classifieds, take a look online beforehand at the federal recycling company. It might be worth it. Especially if you need large quantities.
