As the club announced, the 27-year-old offensive player will be loaned out by Bundesliga competitor VfL Wolfsburg until June 30, 2024. Waldschmidt switched from Benfica to Wolfsburg in 2021 for twelve million euros.
However, the former Freiburger never really arrived at VfL. In the past season, Waldschmidt only started four times and scored just four goals in 18 appearances this season.
