Without Guirassy’s goals, VfB Stuttgart would hardly be in third place in the Bundesliga. The club boss is initially not afraid of losing the striker.

CEO Alexander Wehrle from VfB Stuttgart assumes that goalscorer Serhou Guirassy will also be storming for the third-place team in the Bundesliga next year.

When asked by “Bild am Sonntag” whether he expected Guirassy to stay, Wehrle said: “I don’t see any other signs at the moment.” Despite a short injury break, the 27-year-old has had an outstanding season with 17 goals so far and has played a decisive role in the sporting recovery.

“Feels comfortable here with his family”

Guirassy repeatedly emphasizes in conversations that he feels very comfortable at VfB, said Wehrle. “Serhou decided to join VfB Stuttgart in the summer, even though he had offers from clubs abroad where he could have earned significantly more money. He feels comfortable here with his family and plays an important role in the team. He really appreciates that,” explained the 48-year-old CEO.

Coach Sebastian Hoeneß is also responsible for the high flight after the relegation that was previously avoided in the relegation. Wehrle sees rumors of transfers surrounding the 41-year-old as an award for his work in Stuttgart. “He identifies 100 percent with VfB. What’s crucial for us is that we want to develop something together here. It’s a longer process,” said Wehrle.

He warned against expectations being too high as the season progressed. “I don’t want to take away any VfB fan’s euphoria. Everyone should enjoy the moment,” said Wehrle. First of all, it’s about having a quiet season and reaching 40 points as early as possible. Only then can you think about formulating new goals.
