He’s back in goal and the shoulder looks stable. The final decision was only made “yesterday,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann, and of course there is always a “small residual risk” – but when Manuel Neuer fished Dodi Lukebakio’s first shot out of the corner after four minutes and then fell to the ground , he stood up again cheerfully. Uff. The captain of the German national soccer team seems to be doing well with the World Cup.
Whereby not only Neuer in the east curve could read on numerous banners of the Hertha fans why it is best to boycott this tournament in Qatar. He won’t do that for professional reasons, neither will Jamal Musiala, who has maintained his almost terrifyingly good form and scored for Munich’s lead after twelve minutes after a template from Sadio Mané.
A curious eight minutes with four goals followed: First, of course, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting met, not once, no, twice within two minutes, and he steered the second goal over the line in a straddle with his shin head like it did only strikers succeed where everything is currently working. 3:0 Bayern, everything clear? nope First Lukebakio, who likes to score against Bayern (for the sixth time on Saturday), scored, then Benjamin Pavard stepped on Davie Selke’s foot in the penalty area. The foul converted the penalty himself, and Hertha was back in the game within five minutes.
In the second half, FC Bayern then always walked on the verge of equalizing because the VAR disallowed a fourth Munich goal for offside. But a risky juggling game by Manuel Neuer outside of his sixteen had no consequences, as did Dayot Upamecano falling on the ball in injury time – there was no penalty, rightly so. It is Bayern’s fourth Bundesliga win in a row and would be enough to top the table if that other Berlin club didn’t go on to win.
Borussia Dortmund – VfL Bochum 3:0 (3:0), Goals: 1: 0 Youssoufa Moukoko (8th), 2: 0 Giovanni Reyna (12th, penalty kick), 3: 0 Moukoko (45th + 2)

Will Marco Reus go to Qatar for the World Cup? The small district derby against Bochum should actually be under this heading. Reus, who has been hampered by an annoying ankle injury for a few weeks, first turned in the direction of the substitute bench – and saw a colleague applying for the World Cup ticket: Youssoufa Moukoko, still only 17 years old, fearlessly and rustically got the one Ball against Ordets; and before Bochum, including goalkeeper Riemann, had switched, the Dortmund teenager fired the ball under the crossbar of the VfL goal with a lot of bang. Less than four minutes later it was 2-0 because Reyna pushed a (justified) penalty kick into the goal after a super slow-motion run-up.
Bochum had started in pale blue clothes à la Manchester City. It looked presumptuous at first, but then the guests set the playful accents for long stretches of the first half: Zoller’s overhead kick just went over the goal; Hummels saved with a head in dire need; an elegant lob from Hofmann only failed to lead to a connection because the tip of his right foot was a millimeter offside. It couldn’t go on like this, Moukoko decided, and when he saw goalkeeper Riemann patrolling the no man’s land between the attacker and his own goal line, the striker lobbed the ball into the empty goal to make it 3-0. Moukoko is the first teenager to score more than ten Bundesliga goals before his 18th birthday.
In the second half, Bochum’s Osei-Tutu soon hit the inside post (47′), but nevertheless: BVB were now more secure. 67 minutes were played when Marco Reus entered the pitch. Shortly thereafter, the club doctor had to go – but the all-clear: not because of Reus, but because Hummels had to be sewn live and in color.
FC Augsburg – Eintracht Frankfurt 1: 2 (1: 1), Goals: 1-0 Mergim Berisha (1st), 1-1 Sebastian Rode (13th), 1-2 Ansgar Knauff (64th)
The opposite of the Champions League is a Bundesliga away game in Augsburg, and so it happened as it had to: Frankfurt, a highly official member of the carpet floor of European high-class football for a few days, was behind after a few seconds. Mergim Berisha, who is a striker by the way and has a German passport, scored the FCA lead with a turning shot.
A defensive midfielder with a German passport then scored the equalizer. Sebastian Rode, who was already a formative player in Eintracht’s victory in Lisbon, scored to make it 1-1 and made it even more difficult for Hansi Flick to be nominated in the final meters. The Eintracht goalscorer for the 2-1 could also play for Germany – but Ansgar Knauff has never been a topic in a national A-squad announcement. After a few Kevin Trapp saves, the SBU takes three points from one of the toughest tests in the Bundesliga.
TSG Hoffenheim – RB Leipzig 1: 3 (0: 1), Goals: 0-1 Christopher Nkunku (17′), 1-1 Georginio Rutter (50′), 1-2 Nkunku (57′), 1-3 Dani Olmo (69′)
The hosts began their task briskly against the Champions League participants from Saxony. But a double shock threw them back: First, Dennis Geiger caused a free kick just in front of his own penalty area line, Christopher Nkunku conjured the subsequent free kick from 19 meters into the angle, as if he could steer the ball with a remote control. Shortly thereafter, three players rushed into each other (including Hoffenheim’s Baumgartner and Prömel), and one look at the faces of the hosts was enough to know that Prömel would not continue playing.
In view of these scenes and the playful superiority of Leipzig, it was amazing that Hoffenheim still bit into the game. It helped that a magic goal from Olmo was disallowed because Nkunku was offside with his big toe on his superb assist. And then Rutter, who failed spectacularly in the first half to RB goalkeeper Blaswich (25th), scored with a header into the far corner to make it 1-1 (48th). The exemplary template, a 40-meter cross, came from the former Leipzig Angeliño.
How would Leipzig react? With a strong intermediate spurt, which Nkunku refined in the 57th minute after a fine combination with the renewed guest lead, before Olmo secured Leipzig’s lead with a capital right-footed shot.

Football isn’t fair, nobody ever said it was, and 1.FSV Mainz 05 learned the lesson again this Saturday. Coach Bo Svensson’s team started the home game against Wolfsburg very well, but the opponent simply boldly took advantage of their first goal opportunity. Felix Nmecha, who was already strong last week, put the ball on Patrick Wimmer after a corner – and he scored the first shot on goal by the wolves to make it 1-0. After that, the game flattened out, as the saying goes, only Maximilian Arnold decided the game with a directly converted free kick with a curious trajectory, Ridle Baku’s counterattack ensured the final score. VfL coach Niko Kovac, whose favorite opponent is Mainz (seven wins from nine duels), is unbeaten in the seventh game in a row. He seems to have arrived at the Autostadt.
