How long will Serge Gnabry be out of FC Bayern after breaking his arm? The coach fears “a lot of games”. When training, the motto is “pay attention”.

In the top Bundesliga game at RB Leipzig Thomas Tuchel is once again hoping for goals from the Munich offensive department around Harry Kane, which is currently functioning well, even if the Bayern coach claims a “serious failure”.

In any case, the 50-year-old assessed Serge Gnabry’s absence in the coming weeks with these words. The international soccer player broke his forearm during FC Bayern’s 4-0 win in the DFB Cup against third division club Preußen Münster this week and had to undergo surgery.

Downtime “four to six weeks”

Tuchel now estimated the downtime to be “normally four to six weeks”. He doesn’t have too high hopes that attacker Gnabry might be able to play again sooner with a splint on his injured arm. “When can you play with a brace? When does that make sense?” the coach asked on Friday.

“We will have to be careful with contact (in a duel), with falling down because he cannot support himself. And football is a contact sport. Falls can always happen,” said Tuchel, explaining his skepticism.

After all, even with a broken arm, Gnabry could train in such a way “that he doesn’t lose so much, at least in terms of fitness and physical fitness,” as Tuchel noted. Nevertheless, the attacker is missing “a lot of games in the current English weeks, that’s adding up.” National coach Julian Nagelsmann will also have to make do without Gnabry in the first international matches under his leadership on October 14th in Hartford against hosts USA and four days later in Philadelphia against Mexico.
