Tuchel sees Sané in a “difficult situation” and praises Kane

Leroy has lost his world-class form from the first half of the season. Along with the lull comes physical pain. And Harry Kane? The Englishman delivers again against Leipzig.
Coach Thomas Tuchel sees national soccer players Leroy Sané at FC Bayern Munich in a “difficult situation”. In the 2-1 win in the top Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig, the 28-year-old winger again had numerous unfortunate actions on the offensive.
Sané was substituted after 65 minutes, which, according to Tuchel, was also due to physical problems: “He has a trough with pain. He is extremely tough. He bites his teeth, but is not completely free in how he moves. ” In addition to the loss of the world-class form in the first phase of the season, Sané has had problems with the patellar tendon in his knee for a long time. The offensive player last scored in the Bundesliga in the 8-0 win against Darmstadt on October 28, 2023. They were his seventh and eighth goals this season.
Praise for defensive work
Since then, Sané has been involved in a few more goals, said Tuchel. But the loss of form is visible. “You have to have your statistics and maintain them,” said Tuchel about the national player’s lost effectiveness. However, Tuchel praised Sané’s defensive effort for the team against Leipzig, especially after losing the ball. “His effort against the ball was high,” said the Bayern coach.
At the same time, it was no surprise for Tuchel that striker Harry Kane was able to overcome his slight dip in form with few offensive actions and fewer goals than usual against Leipzig. The 30-year-old was Munich’s match winner with two goals in front of his English national coach Gareth Southgate (53) in the Allianz Arena. “I’m not worried about Harry at all,” said Tuchel. Since he was 14, he has been “putting in 50 things every year.”
With 27 goals, Kane is clearly the top scorer in the Bundesliga and could even equal former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski’s record in his first year in Germany. The Pole, who now plays for FC Barcelona, scored 41 goals in the 2020/21 season.
