The series of failures at FC Bayern continues. Winger Kingsley Coman is injured in Augsburg. The diagnosis hits the record champions hard.

FC Bayern has to wait for the French international soccer player for weeks Kingsley Coman waive. The 27-year-old suffered a torn medial ligament in his left knee in the 3-2 win at FC Augsburg on Saturday, as the Munich team announced.

“That is of course bitter,” said sports director Christoph Freund. “But knowing Kingsley, he will come back even stronger. We wish him a speedy recovery!” The personnel situation at the record champions is getting worse.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel expressed concern immediately after the final whistle. “It’s extremely painful right now,” he told the TV channel Sky. The French newspaper “L’Équipe” and the “Bild” newspaper subsequently reported on the diagnosis. Coman will most likely also be missing from the French team in the international match against Germany in Lyon on March 23rd.

“It’s a bit magical right now”

The winger had to leave the field early in the game. When Munich took the lead 1-0 by Aleksandar Pavlovic (23rd minute), FCA attacker Phillip Tietz fell on the Frenchman’s left leg, who then remained lying there. Coman left the stadium on crutches.

Tuchel had to do without Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer (both muscle injuries) as well as Joshua Kimmich (shoulder) in Augsburg. Bayern are also still missing the long-term injured Serge Gnabry (hamstring injury in the left adductor area), Bouna Sarr (torn cruciate ligament) and Daniel Peretz (injury to the medial ligament in the right knee). Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are also currently not in the squad as they are taking part in the continental championships with their national teams.

“It’s a bit magical at the moment that we go out with an injured player every game,” complained veteran Thomas Müller. Coman’s loss hits the Munich team hard two weeks before the Bundesliga summit at Bayer Leverkusen and the following round of 16 first leg in the Champions League at Lazio Rome.
