The Munich police explained the threat on X (formerly Twitter): “The facts are known to us and are being examined intensively by us and the LKA Bavaria. As things stand, we have no concrete knowledge of any risk. We will supervise the game with an increased staffing level.” As a spokesman for the Munich police told the German Press Agency on Saturday, the police and the State Criminal Police Office had intensively evaluated the photo that night and came to the clear conclusion that there was no concrete risk findings.
The spokesman emphasized that the game would take place as planned and confirmed that the presence of emergency services was being increased. In a top game in this category, 300 to 500 people are normally deployed. “We are now increasing this number,” he said. It is not yet known exactly how many officers will be on duty in and around the stadium.
Interior Ministry comments on terror threat
The Federal Ministry of the Interior said in the afternoon that there was no concrete evidence of a threat. “The facts in question are known to the federal security authorities. We currently have no concrete indications of a dangerous situation,” said a ministry spokesman for the German Press Agency. The federal and state governments are in close and constant communication and are taking the necessary measures, he added. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has commented extensively on the general threat posed by Islamist terrorism in recent days. “The current information fits in with their assessment of the situation. It is still valid.”
FC Bayern told “t-online” that the club was in close communication and coordination with the police, in whose hands the matter was. Since the attack on a concert hall in Moscow that killed at least 144 people, several countries have raised their terror alert levels.
It is not the first time that FC Bayern has come into the focus of IS terrorists. In the summer of 2016, a man was arrested in Munich for allegedly planning an attack during the Bundesliga opening game in the Allianz Arena.
