Neuer is fighting for a comeback – questions about the future in the Bayern goal

Sven Ulreich represents Manuel Neuer at the Bayern game in Heidenheim. What the Arsenal duel looks like remains to be seen. Those responsible in Munich are impressed by a “madman”.
When the German soccer record champions board the plane to London on Monday, Neuer wants to be on board after his torn muscle fiber. In Heidenheim, Neuer will again be represented by Sven Ulreich. The backup also did that at the start of the season when the No. 1 was struggling to return from a broken leg.
Neuer and Ulreich (35) have formed a very good goalkeeping team for years. But given the age of the two, FC Bayern also has to move forward with future planning for the goal. The contracts of the two expire on June 30, 2025.
Interesting candidates for Bayern goal
Stuttgart’s Alexander Nübel is now again considered a candidate for the place in the Bayern goal. The 27-year-old’s contract in Munich also runs until 2025, and the loan to VfB has been agreed until the summer. There are also candidates abroad who could be interesting for FC Bayern: The Portuguese Diogo Costa (24/FC Porto), the Frenchman Mike Maignan (28/AC Milan) or the Dutchman Bart Verbruggen (21/Brighton & Hove Albion) .
The Israeli Daniel Peretz (23) is already in the Bayern squad. Peretz’s contract runs until June 30, 2028, and those responsible are satisfied with his development. “He’s a top boy, trains like a madman,” reported coach Thomas Tuchel before the game in Heidenheim. “He always has a smile on his face, he’s a good boy, and of course he has a sensational training group with Manu and Ulle to learn from. We’re very happy.”
Learning from handball?
The Munich goalkeeper trio experienced a special event this week. At a workshop on Säbener Straße, in addition to the keeper team, goalkeeper talents from the FC Bayern Campus and the campus goalkeeper trainers led by coordinator Tom Starke were there when there was an exchange between footballers and handball players. The FC Bayern goalkeeper team led by goalkeeper coach Michaelrechner welcomed Mattias Andersson, goalkeeper coach of the German national handball team and the THW Kiel.
“We want to think outside the box, learn from other sports and become better through such insight. The exchange was outstandingly good,” saidrechner. During his active career, Andersson was one of the best goalkeepers in his sport and was, among other things, Champions League winner, European champion and silver medalist at the Olympics.
