Knee problems: Sané not in Bayern’s starting line-up for the first time

National player For the first time, Leroy Sané will not be in FC Bayern Munich’s starting line-up on matchday 22 of the Bundesliga.
The offensive player is suffering from knee problems but is sitting on the bench. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting starts for him. As a second change from the 0-1 defeat in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Lazio Rome during the week, Matthijs de Ligt replaces Dayot Upamecano, who was also injured, in central defense.
“Leroy has been suffering from pain in his patellar tendon for weeks, and you can tell by him,” Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel told DAZN before kick-off: “The same thing happened with Upa, so it was clear that we weren’t playing three games a week get through.”
Midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović is completely missing from the squad due to hip problems. The failures of Sacha Boey, Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Bouna Sarr were already clear beforehand. Bayern go into the game eight points behind the league leaders following Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 win in Heidenheim on Saturday.
