Influence in the relegation battle? Terzic defends himself
Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 defeat in Mainz may have upset their rivals 1. FC Köln and Union Berlin. BVB coach Terzic doesn’t want to be held accountable by other clubs.
With Mainz’s victory, the starting position of 1. FC Köln and Union Berlin has deteriorated drastically. Cologne (27 points) can now only catch Köpenicker (30) on matchday 34. Union, for its part, can only avoid relegation if the competition makes a mistake on matchday 34. Terzic had changed his winning eleven from Paris (1-0) to ten positions. Only Nico Schlotterbeck started in both games.
“We have different demands on our performance,” Terzic made clear. But it wasn’t because of the line-up, because a similar team won clearly against FC Augsburg a week ago.
For Dortmund, fifth place in the Bundesliga has been confirmed ahead of time, meaning they will qualify for the premier class again. Everything now revolves around the big Champions League final on June 1st (9 p.m./ZDF and DAZN) against Real Madrid. But the coach didn’t want to talk much about it. “We have to put up with the stupid questions again. We have proven that we can show really mature football. Unfortunately, we have not proven that we can show it consistently. That really annoys me,” said the 41-year-old.
