Last working day before the holidays: records, bullies and racism

The Bavarians wave from the distant summit, Max Kruse steps properly and in Duisburg a monkey roars from the stands. The last matchday of the first half of the Bundesliga leaves mixed feelings.

That’s how the game day went

All results of the 17th matchday, the table and statistics for reading can be found here in star-Ticker.

Excitement of the game day

Sure, football turned out to be smooth. Sometimes more PR than passion, more business plan than fan culture. But at least you can rely on stinker king Max Kruse.

Krawall-Kruse (sorry for that) kicked after his Union Berlin with a remarkable goal for a 1-0 win against VfL Bochum. Kruse then commented in one of the fact that some Bochum fans let out their frustration in the final minutes of the party by throwing beer mugs at the Berliners WDR2 interview with: “I have seldom seen such anti-social fans as here.”

But Kruse wouldn’t be riot-Kruse (pardon me again) if he’d let it be. On his Instagram channel, he published a video from the team bus in which he declared with a sneering kiss: “Victories like today’s tastes best, I would say.” But don’t worry, Bochum has always “been a sympathetic club” after all. Only that was a day “on which all Ruhrpott-Asis gathered in Bochum.”

Oh yeah, but we always want “real guys like they used to be”, right?

Matchday losers

… is clearly the decency. For the first time in the history of German professional football, a game was canceled due to a racist incident. Referee Nicolas Winter ended the third division game between MSV Duisburg and VfL-Osnabrück in the 33rd minute on Sunday. A “fan” had given the Osnabrück player Aaron Opoku from the stands with monkey sounds. The fact that people are still exposed to such an intellectual sell-off in 2021 is an indictment – not only for professional sport.

So it’s a lot more fun to get upset about wonderfully trivial things – for example about BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke. The proved in the “Bild” -Show “The situation of the league“namely once again what the term” bad loser “means. After Berlin Hertha messed up the pre-Christmas mess with their 3-2 win for Dortmund, Watzke could no longer hold back.” I don’t want any alibis now , but the place was unworthy for a Bundesliga club, “he grumbled in the” Bild “show. It was a” clay meadow “! N / A! Watzke should be careful – if you are so naughty, you will hardly find any presents under the Christmas tree.

Match day winner

… are Bayern, olé, olé … Even if you wanted to change that (and many want that), that’s the way it is. With their 4-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg, the Munich team once again prove their superiority. Nine points separate the people of Munich before the Christmas break from their Dortmund “pursuers”. Fun fact: Third place in the table, SC Freiburg (29 points), is further away from Bayern (43 points) than from the direct relegation zone, where Arminia Bielefeld is currently lolling with 16 points.

Congratulations also go to Thomas Müller. He played his 400th Bundesliga game on Friday – and immediately rewarded himself with a goal. At this point, one more of his greatest quotes: “I’m slowly getting the feeling that I can do more with my left foot than just get beer.” After more than 36,000 Bundesliga minutes, it can finally be determined: That’s right.

Oh yes: Robert Lewandowski has once again broken a record: 43 goals in a calendar year. Was that mentioned too.

You should see this gate (again)

Let’s continue with Bayern right away and that’s enough, I promise. But Dayot Upamecano’s first goal in Bayern Jersey was simply a feast for the eyes. Not the header itself, it was “only” aimed at the ice. Rather, the preparation of Sané, Gnabry and Müller has a rewind character. The goal was reminiscent of a certain team from Catalonia, famous at the time for almost magical passing. The name of the club is being researched …

Bremen's Bittencourt laughs at the yellow card from referee Martin Petersen

Good mood on the last working day before the holidays: Bremen’s Leonardo Bittencourt apparently doesn’t take referee Martin Petersen’s warning seriously. A few seconds before this picture was taken, things looked very different – after all, the 28-year-old received the yellow card for complaining.
