Bundesliga: FC Bayern does not wobble against Freiburg either

As of: 11/6/2021 5:25 p.m.

Bayern Munich continue to march confidently ahead in the Bundesliga, even if SC Freiburg was the expected strong opponent.

FC Bayern won the top game of the 11th matchday against SC Freiburg with 2-1 on Saturday (November 6th, 2021). Leon Goretzka (30th) brought the record champions on course before the break, Robert Lewandowski (75th) increased with his 13th goal of the season. Janik Haberer’s goal in stoppage time came too late.

First loss of the season for Freiburg

Freiburg suffered the first defeat of the season, even the best defensive in the league to date could not stop Bayern. The Bayern offensive has already hit 40 again – a record at this point in the season.

The 75,000 fans in the Munich arena, which was fully occupied for the first time in a year and a half, experienced a spectacular, fast-paced game right from the start: both teams played offensively forward. Alphonso Davies had two good chances in the beginning. Freiburg missed the best chance to take the lead, Lucas Höler had a free run after twelve minutes, but chased the ball just past the left post.

Müller as a preparer, Goretzka and Lewandowski meet

The Munich team remained on the trigger, Joshua Kimmich completed after Thomas Müller’s fine pass from full speed with an overhead kick, Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken was on the post. Two minutes later, however, Flekken was powerless, again Müller did the preparatory work with a superior pass, Goretzka completed with a well-placed shot into the near corner to take the lead.

In the second round, Freiburg, who came third in the table, held up well against it, but could not keep the intensity as high as the game progressed. The Munich team kept their excess weight and patiently continued to play. Lewandowski closed a combination over the strong Davies and Leroy Sané to 2-0 and made the preliminary decision.

Substitute Haberer made it exciting again in stoppage time with his goal after a worth seeing solo, but in the end there was the overall deserved victory of the record champions.

Bayern after international break at FC Augsburg

After the international break, FC Bayern will continue with a Bavarian derby: With the game at FC Augsburg, Munich will open the 12th matchday on Friday (November 19, 2021, 8.30 p.m.). SC Freiburg will play against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday from 3:30 p.m.
