Max Eberl has to find a new coach and think about how big the Bayern squad will be in the summer. The stars themselves can answer an important question.

The new sports director Max Eberl wants to incorporate the performances of the Bayern stars in the remaining games of the season into decisions regarding squad restructuring.

“Of course we will take a close look at who will follow along in the last three months when we have these ambitious goals. Who will give Bayern Munich this heart and soul to achieve these goals?” said Eberl. “We’re currently in the role of hunter and that’s where our character and mentality shows.”

The Munich team are currently eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. In the Champions League, FC Bayern has to make up for a 0-1 defeat against Lazio Rome in the first leg in order to make it to the quarter-finals.

Eberl: Cards are being reshuffled

Eberl found FC Bayern’s decision to no longer work with coach Thomas Tuchel until the end of the season and after that “right and understandable”. This created clarity as far as the coach is concerned. The fact that he is now also the sports director means the cards are being reshuffled a bit, said the 50-year-old, who is looking for a new coach.

“I saw the reaction last Saturday because of the decision. That gives me a good feeling,” said Eberl, who officially starts work on Friday. “The boys on the pitch have their demands, Thomas will do everything to have a great farewell and we will do everything to ensure that we can all maybe even celebrate it together. To realize this impossible thing that is happening right now .”

Eberl has to make a lot of considerations when analyzing the squad

When analyzing the squad for the new season, the Munich team will make a lot of considerations. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, will have to find new clubs. The contracts of Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané and Alphonso Davies expire in summer 2025. For the last time in the summer, FC Bayern could collect a transfer fee after this season. According to Spanish media reports, Davies is close to moving to Real Madrid.

Numerous contracts of Bayern stars expire on June 30, 2026, and those responsible will also think about their future. Eberl said he did not want to predict the extent of a renovation in the summer.

“We’ll take a close look at things.” He expects the players to “do everything they can and show how important Bayern Munich is to me, how much soul and heart I put into it. I’ll put everything I can into it, I’ll try to give the others a piece to light and take with you”.
