Clearly lost against Bochum, already falling behind against Fürth at the break: Despite being top of the table, things are not going well at Bayern Munich. Apparently, the team takes supposedly easy opponents lightly.

That’s how the game day went

Game day excitement

It’s a secondary theater of war, but one with a certain significance: the quarrel between TV expert Lothar Matthäus and Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidžić. Matthäus had criticized Bayern’s defensive weaknesses, Salihamidžić put himself in front of the Bayern players as the person responsible for putting together the squad. But whoever is 1:4 behind VfL Bochum at halftime on the 22nd matchday and 1:1 behind against Greuther Fürth at halftime on the 23rd matchday, not only has to think about his defense, but also about the attitude of the team do.

If the Bayern stars take supposed relegation candidates lightly, then they obviously have a head problem. That went terribly wrong against Bochum, against Fürth the team got the curve and won 4:1. Matthäus has nevertheless hit a sore spot for Bayern. This is also shown by Salihamidžić’s thin-skinned reaction: “Of course Lothar has to say something, he’s an expert,” he told the DAZN streaming service. “We know we made mistakes, that we didn’t play well. But we stand by our players, talk and work with them. But I don’t give a damn about what Lothar says.”

This goal was the most beautiful

Shortly before the left post, the ball comes to Hoffenheim’s Jacob Bruun Larsen. He puts himself in the air and hits the 1-1 against Wolfsburg. The turnaround in favor of TSG. Just minutes later, Andrej Kramaric scored the 2-1 winning goal for Hoffenheim. But the technically most demanding and probably also the most beautiful goal of the 23rd matchday goes to Bruun Larsen.

Matchday Winner

Fürth loses, Stuttgart draws, Augsburg loses, Hertha loses, Gladbach loses. The only team that won in the bottom half of the table is: Arminia Bielefeld. With 25 points now, they are only three points ahead of the relegation place, but the situation in East Westphalia is no longer as hopeless as it seemed for a long time. In any case, the Bielefeld team has earned respect. And staying up is not an impossibility.

Game day loser

Borussia Mönchengladbach experienced a very bitter Sunday afternoon. It was a bitter 6-0 defeat against BVB. The difference between the two teams, at least up to 0:3, was not as big as the final score might suggest. But then the Gladbachers fell apart, the Dortmunders were probably trying to make amends for the embarrassing performance in the Europa League. And then it just happens that Jonas Hofmann bangs the ball on the crossbar of the Dortmund goal and a few minutes later Marius Wolf also hits the crossbar – but the ball thunders from there into the Gladbach goal – the 3-0 for Dortmund and the crux of the matter Gladbach game.

Giovanni Reyna leaves the pitch in tears. The 19-year-old from Dortmund was just playing his second game after an injury break since the end of August - but after 30 minutes it was over again. Because of his reaction on the pitch - a grab on his thigh - and his tears, it is to be feared that the next injury break is imminent.
