Things are still going bumpy at Borussia Dortmund, but the club has been unbeaten in the Bundesliga since April. New signing Niklas Füllkrug should now really get started.

Borussia Dortmund relies on Niklas’ first goal Filling mug for the national striker’s further exploits. “We hope that this was the kickstart, that it continues to be so important for us,” said coach Edin Terzic after BVB’s 3-1 (2-1) win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the start of the sixth matchday in the Football Bundesliga.

The ex-Bremer himself stood in front of the cameras and microphones with a broad grin. However, Füllkrug did not give the impression that the pressure had been released from him. “I’m relaxed, I was relaxed, I’ll stay relaxed. Of course I think it’s good that the team develops a feeling that there’s someone up front who can hit the goal,” explained the 30-year-old and casually added: ” Maybe I’ll get one or two more balls in the future.”

National coach Nagelsmann watched

Thanks to Füllkrug, Dortmund were at the top of the table, at least overnight. In the stands of the Sinsheim stadium, which was sold out with 30,150 spectators, the new national coach Julian Nagelsmann also saw how the World Cup participant initiated the visitors’ victory with his first goal for BVB (18th). Julian Reus (45th + 3) and Julian Ryerson (90th + 5) scored for BVB. Andrej Kramaric equalized with a penalty kick (25th).

The runner-up remains undefeated this season, but had a few wobbles in the game. “It can also be positive that you are up there and still have room for improvement,” said Füllkrug.
