Bundesliga: BVB defeats harmless Cologne – emotions in Darmstadt – Sport

1. FC Cologne – Borussia Dortmund 0:4 (0:1), Goals: 0:1 and 0:3 Donyell Malen (12th, 61st), 0:2 Niclas Füllkrug (58th, penalty kick), 0:4 Youssoufa Moukoko (90th + 2)

Who should score the goals at 1. FC Köln? There are eleven in the entire season so far, far too few. And now Davie Selke, responsible for almost half of Cologne’s goals with five goals, is also out, while the offensive players Luca Waldschmidt and Mark Uth are also injured. Cologne’s still new coach Timo Schultz finally decided to simply let BVB play without a striker; Steffen Tigges and Justin Diehl remained on the bench.

The Sturmlos plan didn’t work. BVB, with the returning Jadon Sancho in the starting line-up, took the lead after a not particularly sophisticated corner kick variation: Julian Brandt played a bobbing ball into the middle, Donyell Malen sank it. After the goal, Borussia retreated into their now familiar passivity, but Cologne – see list – did not pose a goal threat. So a less than respectable game went into the break.

Borussia’s risky plan to simply rely on Cologne’s harmlessness only wobbled briefly after the break. The hosts had two good chances, Linton Maina hit the post with a curling shot. But shortly afterwards BVB received a penalty, Rasmus Carstensen easily held on to Sancho, who cleverly sank to the ground, and Niclas Füllkrug sank the flattering penalty. Shortly afterwards, Malen scored after a counterattack to make it 3-0 and decide the game. Youssoufa Moukoko was able to increase the result in stoppage time.

SV Darmstadt 98 – Eintracht Frankfurt 2:2 (0:1), Goals: 0:1 Niels Nkounkou (33rd), 0:2 Ansgar Knauff (51st), 1:2 Julian Justvan (61st), 2:2 Christoph Klarer (90th + 5th)

Derby at Böllenfalltor – and that in the pretty cold weather that had already led to a game in Mainz being canceled in the Rhine-Main area on Friday. In Darmstadt, Eintracht was up to operating temperature more quickly. A combination via Sasa Kalajdzic and Dina Ebimbe gave Niels Nkounkou a clear shot and the Frenchman coolly scored to make it 1-0. The Lilies acted honestly, but initially without quality in the end – in contrast to the guests, who actually strengthened themselves profitably with Kalajdzic. After the break, the Austrian directed a ball towards Ansgar Knauff, who made it 2-0.

Julian Justvan’s 1:2 with a ball through Kevin Trapp’s braces narrowed things down once again. And lo and behold: These people from Darmstadt simply don’t give up, they increased their strength and now harassed passive Frankfurters. As a reward, the stadium boiled in stoppage time when Christoph Klarer made it 2-2 with his first Bundesliga goal.

SC Freiburg – TSG Hoffenheim 3:2 (1:0), Goals: 1:0 Lucas Höler (37th), 2:0 Vincenzo Grifo (55th), 2:1 Wout Weghorst (57th), 2:2 Maximilian Beier (77th), 3:2 Roland Sallai (85th). )

SC coach Christian Streich followed up his appeal to strengthen democracy by strengthening his offensive. Lots of goal-hungry Freiburgers ran across the field before Lucas Höler elegantly but suspiciously put his toe in a chip cross from Vincenzo Grifo. But the incorruptible VAR images showed: no offside, the goal was counted. And Hoffenheim? At first seemed shaky in this heaving game. Florian Grillitsch fatally mishandled the ball against Michael Gregoritsch during the Ösi waltz in front of his own penalty area, Grifo grabbed the ball and made it 2-0.

Everything was clear for the superior sports club, but then Wout Weghorst took advantage of a Freiburg defensive error to make it 1:2 – suddenly TSG felt strengthened. This boost was expressed in Maximilian Beier’s cannon shot to make it 2-2. When the game finally threatened to tip in favor of the guests after Manuel Gulde’s dismissal, something amazing happened: a final Freiburg attack, Roland Sallai’s header, Oliver Baumann’s save and finally the Hungarian’s 3-2 victory. Christian Streich probably needed a boost for his nerves at the end.

1. FC Heidenheim – VfL Wolfsburg 1:1 (1:1), Goals: 0:1 Vaclav Cerny (7th), 1:1 Moritz Jenz (45+2nd, own goal)

On the occasion of this game, a quote from Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac has been added, he said during the week: “On paper, everything is easy. On the tactics board, I won all the games. Normally I should be first in the table – without conceding a goal. But that’s just theory.” And the practice? This time gave his VfL an early lead because Vaclav Cerny performed a one-two with his offensive colleague Jonas Wind. The Czech finished, and in theory that would have given VfL security. In real life, however, Moritz Jenz scored an own goal to make it 1-1 shortly before half-time when VfL exposed their left side of the defense when Omar Traore passed in a cross. Afterwards it was said: There was a fire at the Brenz, because the few VfL fans who had traveled along set off a few fireworks. At least, because this sluggish football game was otherwise nothing like that.
