Is FC Bayern threatened with the next failure? According to the media, Leroy Sané is training individually before the away game in Freiburg.
Coach Thomas Tuchel can say more in the press conference on Thursday about how he can plan for the game on Friday evening in Breisgau with Sané. The first alternative would be the Frenchman Mathys Tel.
The coach, who left at the end of the season, recently saw the national player in a “difficult situation”. In the 2-1 win in the top Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig, the 28-year-old winger again had numerous unfortunate actions on the offensive and was substituted after a good hour. According to Tuchel, this was also due to physical problems. “He has a trough with pain. He is extremely tough. He bites his teeth, but is not completely free in how he moves,” said Tuchel.
Sane’s failure would hurt Bayern greatly
The offensive player last scored in the Bundesliga in the 8-0 win against Darmstadt on October 28, 2023. They were his seventh and eighth goals this season. In view of the numerous failures, a failure by Sané would hurt the Munich team very much. Wing alternative Kingsley Coman completed a running session for the first time this week after tearing the medial ligament in his left knee. Serge Gnabry, who was able to take part in substitute training again on Sunday, is further on the way to a comeback.
In the Bundesliga, Munich want to close the eight-point gap to leaders Bayer Leverkusen. It would be particularly important for Sané to be involved in the second leg of the round of 16 next Tuesday against Lazio. Then FC Bayern is still aiming for a place in the quarter-finals after a 0-1 defeat in the first leg.
