For a long time, Bayern decision-makers were concerned with the goalkeeping issue. Many candidates were traded. Now the solution is at hand. A young Israeli comes.

FC Bayern Munich is about to close the goalkeeper transfer construction site after a long search and numerous twists and turns.

According to unanimous reports from several media, the record champions have reached an agreement with Maccabi Tel Aviv on signing Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. This was reported by the “Bild” newspaper, the Munich “tz”, Sky and the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old Peretz should therefore cost a base fee of around five million and receive a five-year contract in Munich. The obligation is not fixed yet. Peretz is scheduled to come on for Maccabi in the Conference League qualifier against NK Celje from Slovenia this Thursday. Only then does the medical check-up and contract signing follow.

The keeper would initially be number two behind Sven Ulreich (35), who is currently replacing captain Manuel Neuer in the Bayern goal. After breaking his leg more than eight months ago, the 37-year-old international goalkeeper is in the last phase of his individual training. Coach Thomas Tuchel said at the start of the Bundesliga in Bremen that Neuer “can start team training in two or three weeks. And then it’ll be quick anyway.” Peretz is initially intended as a replacement for Ulreich at the German record champions and is seen as a man of the future. He should learn from Neuer and Ulreich.

FCB let two top keepers go

In the summer, Bayern had been looking for a suitable replacement for Neuer after his comeback seemed to be delayed indefinitely. They let Yann Sommer, who was brought in from Borussia Mönchengladbach at the beginning of the year, move to Inter Milan because the Swiss national goalkeeper wanted to be the clear number one at a club. Alexander Nübel, who is afraid of competing with Neuer, was loaned out to VfB Stuttgart. As a result, the commitment of another goalkeeper was necessary.

“I am convinced that we will find a solution by September 1st,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen recently. Peretz is now that solution.
