Modest Bayer despite early form: “Just think about Darmstadt”

Despite the two impressive victories, Bayer Leverkusen are modest at the start of the Bundesliga. Coach Xabi Alonso in particular does not want to know anything about the top game at FC Bayern Munich on the fourth day of the game after the international break in mid-September.
“I’m only thinking of Darmstadt,” said the former Bayern professional after the 3-0 (2-0) victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. “After that maybe. But now our focus is only on Darmstadt.”
The promoted team is the third opponent of the Werkself this coming weekend, who had already beaten RB Leipzig 3-2 in the Bundesliga’s top game on matchday one. “We’re good. But I don’t want to talk about whether that’s enough for the top. I don’t want to put too much pressure on the team,” said newcomer Granit Xhaka after the dominant performance at his former club.
Former Gladbacher Jonas Hofmann also called for staying “humble” despite the impressive early form.
