Building, bureaucracy and nature conservation: When the hamster polishes – culture

In Erfurt, a new school building is failing because of 40 rodents, and in Tübingen, a presumably dead bird is standing in the way of the clinic expansion. Crazy? Yes but.

“Hamster fillet with fried potatoes and tomatoes”: The recipe may not be serious on the “Cooking by Numbers” homepage. But apart from the fact that guinea pigs are known as a delicacy in the Andean region, this sentence about “Recipe 3”, the East German hamster fillet, is remarkable: “What the Thuringians get the bratwurst, the people in the Ore Mountains get the hamster fillet (…) Unfortunately You can’t just find well-fed hamsters in the supermarket. That’s certainly because of the EU.”
