“Brynhild” at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms – culture

You could guess what was to come. Since Nico Hofmann took over the directorship of the Nibelungen Festival in Worms in 2015, the huge open-air stage in front of Worms Cathedral has been mucked out. Before that, there was mostly the drama by Friedrich Hebbel in variations, sometimes a trilogy by Albert Ostermaier came out, then plays by Lukas Bärfuss or Thomas Melle, motifs from the Nibelung saga were developed independently and had to withstand the collision with the present. There have been great performances in recent years, often enhanced with luxury casts.
