Clash between teams in good shape at Francis-Le Bé this Saturday. On a series of 6 consecutive victories, the Stade Brestois sought to continue this state of grace when receiving Montpellier. Better still compared to the success brought back from Marseille a week ago, the Bretons found Mounié in front but had to do without their captain Brendan Chardonnet, replaced by Brassier, victim of a car accident yesterday. The mission did not promise to be so simple either because the MHSC posted two consecutive victories, led in particular by a very fit Wahi and a Savanier still at the helm.
Under an intense but fine rain, this match started timidly. The Brestois had a little trouble playing against a well-structured opponent. There were some acceleration from Faivre and Honorat on the sides and safe corners obtained but it was too light to really launch this late afternoon. We had to wait until the last quarter of an hour of this first act for things to finally move. Savanier in all the right ways
Brest tried to make the difference before the break but Mounié’s header on this dedication from Duverne did not find the frame (44th). A real turning point in this match because in the wake, after a lost ball in the midfield, Savanier deposited a perfect cross for the helmet shot from Wahi (0-1, 45th + 1). The affair became more complicated for the Bretons, and even quickly became impossible to resolve. On another loss of the opponent’s ball, Savanier stung again by directing the game towards Germain. More hard is the fall for Brest whose beautiful series comes to an abrupt end, while the MHSC temporarily climbs to 4th place.
