Bruno Le Maire urges the CGT not to “lay down the law” after threats to manipulate the meters

The Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire strongly criticized Tuesday the CGT which threatens, in Marseille, to “manipulate” electricity meters to lower the bills of certain customers, in particular bakers.

“It is not the CGT which decides in France”, “it is not the CGT which decides on the tariffs”, “it is not up to the CGT to make the law” but “to the parliamentarians”, a- he hammered on Europe 1.

“We have the technical capacity to do so, without endangering property or people”, confided its secretary general Renaud Henry, without giving more details on the way to proceed which would however be “completely illegal”. Bruno Le Maire deemed such measures “unacceptable”.

Manipulation of counters

In Marseille, the CGT-Energie on Monday raised the possibility of carrying out a “manipulation on the meter” so that bakers can benefit from significant reductions on their bill.

“We have the technical capacity to do so, without endangering property or people”, confided its secretary general Renaud Henry, without giving more details on the way to proceed which would however be “completely illegal”. Bruno Le Maire deemed such measures “unacceptable”.
