Brunnthal – Wiesn hosts plant trees – Munich district

Usually, at the end of September, the Wiesn hosts wait more or less impatiently for the redeeming words that the Mayor of Munich calls into the Schottenhamel marquee: “Ozapft is!” A few weeks after the beer-filled event on the Theresienwiese, the innkeepers of the Schottenhamel, the Münchner Stubn, Poschner’s Hendlbraterei and Käfer’s Weinzelt now changed the slogan to “Eiplanted is!” – while boasting about their own carbon footprint. Because in the marquees at the Oktoberfest, thanks to a climate package, celebrations are now CO₂-neutral, also thanks to the planting campaign on Monday in the forest near Brunnthal. The host families Schottenhamel, Kufler, Geimann, Wickenhäuser-Egger and Luff want to plant a total of 1300 trees and thus ecologically upgrade the forest, which was previously characterized by a monotonous spruce population. “We want to set a good example and do something good for our climate, also directly in our homeland,” said spokesman Munich Wiesn host Christian Schottenhamel (in the foreground). The innkeepers cooperate with the organization Climate-Partner, through which various climate protection projects are financed.
