Brunnthal waives daycare fees for parents – Munich district

The municipality of Brunnthal has set a precedent. The parents of seven children of crèche age do not have to pay a contribution for a month because they had to be cared for in a kindergarten due to the lack of educators. Only with the merger of the Gänseliesl daycare center and the Raupennest daycare center at the end of October can the scarce human resources be used optimally and day-to-day daycare guaranteed. Mayor Stefan Kern (CSU) was “ambivalent” about the parents’ application, and the municipal council engaged in discussions. Jürgen Gott (independent) said that the Munich Land workers’ welfare organization had fewer personnel costs due to the lack of educators and should waive the parents’ contribution totaling 1700 euros. Peter Sachs (CSU) saw this as “one-sided treatment”, after all, the crèche children were looked after by their own educators. He emphasized that in other cases there had been a reduction in contributions but no free care for a month, and he was the only one who voted against the motion.
