Bruce Willis retired due to illness. In the hard times, however, his family stands by his side.
At the end of March, Bruce Willis’ (67) family announced that the actor was ending his career with immediate effect. The former action star was diagnosed with aphasia. Willis’ family are now doing “whatever they can” to support him, an insider reports in an interview with the US magazine “People”.
His wife Emma Heming-Willis, 43, his ex-wife Demi Moore, 59, and their children have rallied around him to help the 67-year-old deal with what may await him. Bruce Willis has five daughters. Rumer (33), Scout (30) and Tallulah (28) are from the relationship with Moore, Mabel (10) and Evelyn (7) from his current marriage.
They are a “strong family unit”
“Everyone is focused on all the happy moments to share,” the insider continued. In particular, Willis’ wife Emma, to whom he has been married since 2009, pulls together as much as possible and tries to be strong for him, says another source close to the model. And further: “It was shocking.” As someone “facing health challenges,” Willis couldn’t have a better family.
Aphasia is a speech disorder caused by damage to the brain. Those affected may have problems speaking and understanding language, including reading and writing. “As a result, and after careful consideration, Bruce is retiring from a career that has meant so much to him,” it said at the end of March in a statement on behalf of all family members. In it they had already described themselves as a “strong family unit” – including Moore.
