On Instagram, Britney Spears remembers an early encounter with the young Taylor Swift. The then only 13-year-old sang for Spears.
Britney Spears has met pretty much every celebrity in her life, which she describes in an exciting way in her recently published biography “The Woman in Me”. Spears also occasionally met Taylor Swift. She now remembered the first meeting on her Instagram profile.

“During my ‘Oops’ tour, there was a knock on my door. My good friend at the time was my manager’s assistant who was trying to become a manager himself. There was a knock and then he said, ‘I have a girl named Taylor, who wants to sing for you,'” the musician writes. Swift performed a “beautiful song with her guitar,” said Spears. She found her “incredible” and they posed for a photo together. “And then she became the most iconic pop woman of our generation,” says Spears happily.
In her posting, Spears dates her first meeting with Swift to 2003. However, her “Oops” tour took place much earlier. In 2003 she was on another North American tour. Taylor Swift was 13 in 2003 and turned 14 in December 2003.
Spears also posted a picture of the two of them years later MTV Video Music Awards 2008 was recorded. At that time, Swift was already a successful country singer. A few years ago, Britney made headlines because she couldn’t remember meeting Swift.
In an Australian radio show in 2016, she was asked whether she would prefer to sit next to Swift or Katy Perry on the plane. “I don’t know, that’s hard. Both are so cool! I met Katy briefly at the premiere of ‘The Smurfs’. I probably wouldn’t choose Katy Perry because I’ve met her before. “I don’t know Taylor Swift, I’ve never met her, so I think I would choose her,” the musician replied.
Spears fans reacted at the time and posted photos of their two idols on social networks.
