Britney Spears was under the tutelage of her father for 13 years. Now she enjoys a new freedom

Britney Spears was under her father’s tutelage for 13 years. Now a judge has given the musician back her freedom.
Cheers broke out in front of the courthouse in Los Angeles. Pink confetti flies in the air, fans of Britney Spears hug each other: Judge Brenda Penny has made the decision long hoped for by the Free Britney movement. After 13 years under guardianship, the singer regains her freedom. Effective immediately, the judge is suspending all financial and personal control requirements for Spears. Penny is complying with a request from the lawyers who fought for the rights of the former pop star.
“Best day ever … Praise God,” Spears wrote on Instagram on Friday. She also posted a video of cheering fans in front of the courthouse. She loves her fans so much, Spears wrote about the clip. “I think I’ll cry for the rest of the day.” Shortly afterwards, she posted a photo of herself in a skin-tight yellow dress. You still couldn’t believe it, stressed Spears.
Britney Spears can now decide for herself about her life
Her fiancé, Sam Asghari, gave free rein to his joy right after the judge’s verdict. On Instagram he posted “Freedom” in white letters on a pink background. “Today history was made. Britney is free!” Wrote the 27-year-old to a red heart emoji.
Spear’s attorney Mathew Rosengart spoke of a “monumental day” after the hearing in front of the courthouse. From now on Spears is a free and independent woman who can determine her own life. It was now Britney’s decision how to proceed.
Spears’ attorney renews allegations against father
Rosengart repeated earlier allegations against the singer’s father. Jamie Spears had enriched himself with the millionaire fortune of the daughter, who had already conquered the worldwide charts as a teenager. The lawyer thanked his client for courageously defending herself against the system. This brought to light what grievances there are with guardianship regulations.
At the end of September, the judge had already deposed Spears’ father as the singer’s guardian and appointed a replacement. But this was only a partial victory, because the guardianship initially remained in force. Jamie Spears (69) has been the guardian of his daughter since 2008 after the singer collapsed mentally due to personal and professional problems.

Spears stayed away from the hearing on Friday. But in earlier appearances in court, the singer had made it clear in clear words that she wanted to hold the father and other supervisors accountable. In June and July, the singer violently attacked her father in emotional speeches and raised allegations against her family and advisers. She is controlled by everyone and cannot determine her own life, explained the singer of hits like “Oops! … I Did It Again” and “Baby One More Time”. She has been threatened and is afraid of her father. In places, the pop star broke out in sobs.
According to a documentary in the “New York Times”, Spears is said to have been under massive surveillance for years under the tutelage of her father. A listening device had been installed in her bedroom and data on her cell phone had been copied, according to the documentary “Controlling Britney Spears”, citing material that had been made available by a former employee of a security company.
Celebrities congratulate the new freedom
The controversial guardianship had been in the headlines for months and caused heated discussions on social networks. Many celebrities and fans expressed their support for the singer under the hashtag “#FreeBritney”.
Now there were congratulations. Singer Dionne Warwick called in a tweet to celebrate the “liberation” of Spears. Cyndi Lauper congratulated on Twitter, and pop star Cher also cheered the victory. “Freedom. I’m so happy for you,” said fashion designer Vera Wang. Freedom is a human right, remarked the Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace on Instagram about an earlier photo of herself and Spears. “My heart laughs for you, Britney.”
