Once Queen Elizabeth II abdicates and her son Prince Charles ascends the throne, Duchess Camilla will become queen, which will also boost her charitable commitment.

Duchess Camilla considers it a “great honor” to be able to be British Queen in the future. The 74-year-old told the BBC in a recorded program that was to be broadcast.

She also hopes that this will give her a boost to her charitable commitment to victims of domestic violence. “I will continue to do this,” she said, adding: “When I start something like this, I don’t stop in the middle (…).”

Queen Elizabeth II (95) recently expressed the wish that the wife of heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) should bear the title “Queen consort” when she dies and Charles becomes king. Elizabeth’s husband Philip, who died last April at the age of 99, was only known as the prince consort (“Prince consort”).

Both Charles, Camilla and the Queen had recently been infected with the corona virus. According to the palace, the monarch suffers from mild, cold-like symptoms, but recently had to cancel several virtual audiences because of the illness. The BBC interview was recorded several weeks ago.
