The Royals had a lot to celebrate on April 23rd. Prince Louis turned six and William, Kate and Camilla received new titles.

Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (42) not only celebrated the sixth birthday of her youngest son, Prince Louis, on April 23rd. Among others, there were new titles for William’s father, King Charles III, for the heir to the British throne, his wife and Queen Camilla (76). (75).

Medals for Camilla, Kate and William

His Royal Highness appointed the Prince of Wales “Great Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath”, as the palace announced on Tuesday. The order was founded in 1725 by King George I, but is believed to date back to the eighth century. Members of the public service or military are awarded the medal for exemplary achievements.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales is appointed Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour. Established in 1917 by King George V, the order honors outstanding achievements in areas such as art, medicine, science and public service. Kate is the first royal to receive this honor.

Queen Camilla will become “Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire” – a role that was also held by Charles’ father, the late Prince Philip (1921-2021). Also founded in 1917 by King George V, the “Order of the British Empire” also honors civil and military achievements.

A joyful day despite a difficult time

The royals celebrated young Louis’ birthday with a portrait snapped by Kate, which, among other things was published via Instagram. Despite all of today’s joys, the royal family has had a difficult time recently. Both Princess Kate and King Charles III. are being treated for cancer. William recently attended his first official appointment after announcing his wife’s diagnosis.

All appointments today are effective immediately. The British BBC sees the awards for Camilla and Kate in particular as a sign from the king. Camilla’s efforts would be recognized, as she has recently taken on more tasks on her husband’s behalf. Kate’s appointment could also be seen as a sign of support from the monarch.
