Sick King Charles – More online searches on the prostate

King Charles made his diagnosis public. A bold step that immediately raised awareness of prostate health.
After King’s prostate treatment became known Charles III Significantly more people in Great Britain have found out more about the disease.
The NHS registered significantly more inquiries than usual on its information page about enlarged prostates. The website was accessed more than 26,000 times in 48 hours. Previously, an average of around 1,400 visits per week had been registered.
The word “prostate” was searched 13 times more often on Google and the term “benign prostate enlargement” was searched 50 times more often, The Sun newspaper reported on Friday. The charity Prostate Cancer UK said the number of people using its online risk check had doubled compared to the previous week following the announcement.
Raise awareness of the topic
According to media reports, Charles wanted to go public to raise awareness of the topic, which is often treated as taboo. The 75-year-old has been British monarch for more than a year. Prostate Cancer UK thanked the Head of State for his openness. “It is very important to raise awareness about prostate health,” said Chiara De Biase from the organization.
According to the NHS, an enlarged prostate is particularly common in people over 50. This equates to around 3.5 million men in England and Wales. For those over 75 years of age it is 70 to 80 percent. Every year the NHS carries out around 15,000 procedures.
Return journey to England
Charles and his wife Queen Camilla (76) traveled back to England from Scotland. They were observed driving to their Sandringham residence in eastern England, the British news agency PA reported. According to a report in the Sun newspaper, Camilla had postponed her original return flight in order to stay with her husband. But she wants to attend an appointment on Monday in the city of Swindon, which lies between London and Bristol.
“He’s doing well, thank you,” the Queen said when asked about Charles’ health on Thursday. The monarch will likely have to stay in the hospital for a night because of the procedure. The “Sun” speculated that he would then not attend any appointments for up to a month.
