Because of Corona: Queen cancels virtual appointments

The palace had reassured Queen Elizabeth that the corona symptoms were only mild. The Queen continues light work. But the disease seems to hit the 95-year-old harder than previously thought.
Because of her corona disease, concerns about the health of Queen Elizabeth II are increasing. The queen canceled her planned appointments on Tuesday.
“Since Her Majesty continues to experience mild cold-like symptoms, she has decided not to attend her planned virtual appointments today,” said a palace spokesman. The 95-year-old will continue to do “light tasks”.
The PA news agency reported that further appointments in the coming days would be decided at short notice. In view of her old age and recent health problems, observers were now concerned about the well-being of the monarch in the 70th year of her accession to the throne.
Busy schedule
The palace made the Queen’s corona disease public at the weekend. The head of state felt “mild, cold-like symptoms” but wanted to continue doing “light tasks” in Windsor in the coming week, it said. On Monday, she offered condolences to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro over deadly floods in his country. The Queen traditionally meets with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesdays. It is still unclear whether the appointment this week – virtual because of her infection – will take place as planned. On March 2, the Queen plans to attend a reception for diplomats at her Windsor Castle residence near London.
It is considered certain that the Queen was vaccinated against Corona three times. Her son, heir to the throne Prince Charles (73), and his wife Duchess Camilla (74) had also tested positive for the virus. According to BBC information, several employees are also infected.
The infections surprise. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Queen has usually stayed shielded at Windsor Castle. Only her closest employees had contact with her in the “HMS Bubble”, as the royal bubble was called in the media.
The platinum anniversary should be celebrated
The Queen caught the infection almost two weeks after her anniversary: she has been pregnant since February 6, 1952, when her father King George VI. died, British Queen. The platinum anniversary is to be celebrated with events across the country this year. A concert, a military parade and a memorial service are planned for the central long festival weekend in early June.
The Queen had only recently returned to public life from a lengthy, medically prescribed recovery period. She celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in a small group: she received a few guests at her country estate in East England, Sandringham, and appeared cheerful and strong. She cut an anniversary cake and joked with those in attendance.
In the fall, the monarch had canceled several events and trips within Britain. On October 20, she even spent a night in a hospital and underwent several “precautionary” examinations there. Since then she has been shown with a walker.
