Advance by British Prime Minister Private investors to rebuild Ukraine

An international conference discusses the reconstruction of Ukraine. Great Britain’s Prime Minister Sunak primarily wants to attract private investors and companies. For example, before the invasion, the country had become a major player in the IT industry.
At a conference in London next week, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wants to encourage private investment for the reconstruction of Ukraine. At the International Conference on Ukraine’s Reconstruction on Wednesday, Sunak will urge investors and companies to make the war-torn country “financially stronger” and “technologically advanced,” his office said. The meeting will be attended by more than a thousand government officials from 61 countries, as well as business and business representatives. Germany will be represented by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Development Minister Svenja Schulze.
The first conference of this kind took place in July last year in Lugano, Switzerland. The current conference, co-hosted by the UK and Ukraine, is aimed primarily at the private sector. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj will be connected via video, both EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken are expected to speak at the opening meeting.

Sunak wants to solicit additional investments for the country, which had become a major player in the global IT industry before the Russian invasion. “Ukraine’s bravery on the battlefield must be matched by the private sector with a vision to help the country rebuild and recover. Time and time again, Ukraine has demonstrated its ability to embrace innovation and creativity quickly, and I know it can will be no different during recovery,” he said in his speech, according to his office.
“The illegal invasion of Ukraine has destroyed businesses and livelihoods across the country, but it has not destroyed the ingenuity or determination of the Ukrainian people,” Sunak said. “A financially stronger, technologically advanced Ukraine will also strengthen its ability to push Russia behind its borders and build a brighter future for a sovereign and modern Ukraine of the future.”
