American golf pro Brian Harman reaches for his first win in a major tournament at the 151st British Open. The 36-year-old played a strong round of 69 in Hoylake, England, and is a comfortable five shots clear of compatriot Cameron Young (-7) with a total of 12 under par.

Third ahead of the final round of the $16.5 million event is Spain’s Jon Rahm (-6). The 28-year-old completed a record round of 63 and catapulted himself up 36 places on the leaderboard of the world’s oldest golf tournament with a total of eight birdies. It was the world number three’s best round at a major tournament to date, as well as the best round ever played at an Open in Hoylake.

Marcel Siem and Hurly Long, on the other hand, slipped on the penultimate day at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. The 43-year-old Siem from Ratingen played a weaker 74 on the par-71 course in the dunes and fell three strokes over par to shared 57th place. Major newcomer and Olympic participant Long (Heidelberg) recorded a solid round of 71 on his scorecard one day after his 28th birthday and ranked (+2) in 51st place.

The 29-year-old Yannik Paul from Mannheim and the 19-year-old Hamburg amateur Tiger Christensen failed at the cut in the fourth and last major tournament of the year and were eliminated early.
