Brigitte Fossey sees this comedy as “La Boum” of the 2020s (she starred in both)

My heroineit is the equivalent of The party for the 2020s! Brigitte Fossey knows what she’s talking about, she played Sophie Marceau’s mother in Claude Pinoteau’s cult comedy and plays Alex’s grandmother, the protagonist of Noémie Lefort’s cheerful (and autobiographical) first film. We see an aspiring filmmaker (Chloe Jouannet) train his mother (Pascale Arbillot) and his aunt (Louise Coldefy) in New York in hopes of handing over a screenplay to Julia Roberts.

” As The party, it’s a film that feels good, which doesn’t mean that it’s corny, underlines Brigittte Fossey. Noémie Lefort has made her dream as a director come true and she shows that it is possible if you are determined enough. This resolutely optimistic message is communicated throughout this adventure through which the filmmaker pays a delightful tribute to the benefits of the 7th art and to the women in her family, real heroines, who support her in her adventure.

In search of a career

“It’s the portrait of a young woman full of life and dreams,” says Brigitte Fossey. She is so energetic and determined in her desire to succeed that we want to follow her. Vic, the heroine of The party, also had this strength that allowed the character to cross the decades. Alex never lets himself be discouraged for long, which makes his character very touching. The New York she visits is that of Sex and the City and of Friends as she attempts to corner the elusive Julia between her offices and a TV show studio.

“Times have changed,” laughs Brigitte Fossey. Today, Alex is not running after love but after a career as a filmmaker, a goal that I find very positive and probably closer to the concerns of young girls today. The outcome of the adventure, particularly moving, is a cry of passion for the cinema devoid of any sentimentality.

Will Alex meet Julia Roberts at the end of the film? This is of little importance: Noémie Lefort has managed to give life to this delightful film which we want to meet its audience (which is well worth all the stars). Can’t wait for Noémie Lefort’s next film. It will now be up to the cunning stars to contact her.
