Excitement and anticipation were great, because the response to the “Siegfried” premiere a week ago in Erl, not least in terms of the differentiated direction, was enthusiastic everywhere – whether on the part of the audience or the trade press. But as director Brigitte Fassbaender said in the programme: “For me ‘Götterdämmerung’ turned out to be the most difficult play, although I thought it would be ‘Siegfried’.”
