Bridget Jones returns in a fourth part with Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant

It’s official, a fourth film Bridget Jones is on the way. Renée Zellweger will obviously take over the title role, along with Hugh Grant in that of Daniel Cleaver.

A feature film which already has the title Mad About the Boyand which will be directly adapted from the eponymous book by Helen Fielding published in 2013 and translated Crazy about him in French. A work which depicts the last chapter in the love life of the most famous of hardened singles, when she finds herself widowed and the mother of two young children at the age of 51.

World War One

A leap into the future of Bridget Jones’ existence which explains the absence of the suitors from the third opus played by Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey. However, the Guardian highlights the return of Emma Thompson who played the doctor in the previous film and the arrival of Chiwetel Ejiofor (Love Actually) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus) to the casting.

A chapter which, in principle, should be the last, unless of course Helen Fielding decides one day to narrate the sentimental adventures of her character in the twilight of her life. A possibility that would undoubtedly delight the studio behind this particularly lucrative franchise, the last three films having raked in nearly $800 million in box office revenue. And when we see the success of a series like Grace and Frankiethis proves that love – and its quest – is ageless.
