Bridgerton season three appears on Netflix: Now it’s Colin and Penelope’s turn

Dear readers, the third season of “Bridgerton” is approaching, and this time the focus is on this lady: Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan, has been the wallflower of the Netflix series so far. Penelope is keeping a big secret, has two mean sisters and a spiteful mother in tow – but no husband in sight. Until now. From May 16th, fans of the historical romance can look forward to the love story between her and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton. He comes back to the aristocratic Bridgerton home from his trips abroad and has conveniently developed a few muscles along the way. This causes excitement among the upper class ladies, but of all people, his good friend Penelope, who has reliably lusted after him for years, has now – you guessed it – decided to be happy without him.

So it can take a while until friendship turns into love – after the love triangle in season two and the reluctant wedding in season one, this is another well-known romance motif. The book by the American author Julia Quinn is famous for numerous erotic scenes, and Netflix doesn’t skimp on it either. “I think we’ve won the sexiness competition,” Coughlan said on a recent talk show as she compared the new season to previous ones.

But before things get heated between the two, Colin offers Penelope his help in finding a husband in the style of “Pygmalion” – purely as a friend, of course. He wants to show her how best to behave towards potential suitors. One reason for Penelope’s decision to advertise herself on the marriage market is her loneliness. Since her best friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) discovered her secret, the two have been at odds. In order not to be alone on the often tough ball evenings of the upper class, Eloise has even made friends with her arch enemy Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen). Penelope, on the other hand, flees forward. New outfits, new hair, new focus: Penelope wants to know and is soon successful: Lord Debling (Sam Phillips) shows interest in her, and that makes Colin jealous.

The first four episodes of the third season of “Bridgerton” will appear on Netflix on May 16, 2024. The remaining four episodes can be seen from June 13, 2024.
