Curious investigative trail around four years after the collapse of a motorway bridge in Genoa: According to reports, Italian investigators found evidence while listening to the mafia that a mafia truck with drugs on board had an accident at the time.
The investigators obtained the information through intercepted conversations between two bosses, as several media wrote. When the bridge on the A10 collapsed on August 14, 2018, a truck was said to have been damaged with 900 kilograms of hashish hidden in its refrigerator.
More than 60 arrests
The authorities in Reggio Calabria obtained the statements on the fringes of investigations into the powerful Mafia ‘Ndrangheta from Calabria. The lengthy investigations resulted in more than 60 arrests in southern and northern Italy on Tuesday.
According to the reports, the wiretapped conversations dated March 9, 2020. The bosses – one of them was already under house arrest – talked about getting back into possession of the truck and the drugs.
