He once fought for Brexit, now he wants to sit in a cage with rats: The Briton Farage is moving to the jungle camp. In his own words, he wants to polish up his image, which is considered “evil, narrow-minded and nasty.”

The right-wing populist Nigel Farage, who has also become known in Germany as a vocal EU critic and Brexit campaigner, is taking part in the British TV edition of the jungle camp. The broadcaster ITV confirmed the 59-year-old’s participation in the next season of the reality show “I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here!”, which will be broadcast in Great Britain “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” is called and will start in a few days.

Farage has been presenting a television show on GB News for two years. In his own words, he wants to use his appearance in the jungle camp to reach a younger audience and polish up his image, as he is unfairly perceived as “evil, narrow-minded and nasty”. According to British media reports, his participation will also be sweetened with a lavish fee of up to one million pounds (around 1.14 million euros).

Trip to Australia

The former leader of the Ukip party, who played a key role in the British decision to leave the EU, had to travel to Australia for filming, like all camp participants.

The diverse group, from which Farage stands out as the best-known figure, can expect all sorts of humiliating tests with a high disgust factor. The spectators decide who has to compete.

Farage hopes for “a little less” hate

Farage apparently has no illusions that he will get off lightly in the gauntlet: “Given the fact that millions of people hate me, I expect people to let me take these tests.”

But perhaps there is also an opportunity there. “I hope that after this, all those who hate me hate me a little less than before. But it’s a gamble.”
