Breweries – Export saves Warsteiner – Economy

The Warsteiner brewery has cushioned the consequences of the Corona crisis with growth in exports and non-alcoholic variants. Sales of the Warsteiner brand fell by 1.1 percent in 2021, the family business said. It did not give an absolute number. The industry magazine Inside puts Warsteiner in seventh place with 1.84 million hectoliters in its most recent ranking of the largest German beer brands. The CEO, Helmut Hörz, referred to gastronomy closures and many canceled events. While sales of alcoholic Warsteiner beers fell by 2.4 percent, demand for the non-alcoholic varieties increased by 19.7 percent. Foreign sales have increased by 15.5 percent compared to 2020 and are even above the level before the pandemic began.
