Brest lays off Michel Der Zakarian, Bruno Grougi interim coach

This is not the most surprising information of the day, just an officialization. “Stade Brestois has decided to lay off Michel Der Zakarian as a precautionary measure, as coach of the professional team”, indicates this Tuesday in a press release the new red lantern in Ligue 1. He is the third coach dismissed in the top flight in three days, after Lyonnais Peter Bosz on Sunday and Auxerrois Jean-Marc Furlan, already on Tuesday.

The Finistère team has won only one match in the last 10 days, August 21 in Angers (1-3), and remains on a home defeat on Sunday, during the derby against Lorient (1-2). Deputies Franck Rizzetto, David Bechkoura and Alexandre Garcia are also ousted and have an appointment with their management on Friday, like Der Zakarian.

A club legend will take over

Pending the appointment of a new coach, the interim will be provided by Bruno Grougi, says the club. The former emblematic player of Brest (39) has so far led the reserve in National 3. He will be supervised by the survivors of the previous staff, the head of goalkeepers Julien Lachuer and the physical trainer Yvan Bourgis.

Expelled in the last match of N3, Grougi could however not be able to sit on the sidelines on Sunday during the trip to Nantes.
