Not only in the USA, but also in Brazil, there were riots in the capital as a result of a change of government. And like Donald Trump, ex-President Bolsonaro could face legal consequences.

After the storm of radical supporters of the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro in the government district in the capital Brasília At the beginning of the year, an investigative committee called for the former head of state to be indicted. In the more than 1,300-page final report, Bolsonaro is accused of attempting to overthrow the rule of law, political violence and criminal conspiracy. The ruling party approved the report by a majority yesterday (local time) after five months of investigations. In addition to Bolsonaro, 60 other people are also accused, including former ministers and military officials.

The report will now be sent to the public prosecutor’s office, which will then decide whether to file a lawsuit or not. Bolsonaro’s defense called the report’s findings incomplete and biased, according to Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo. The ex-president had no right to a defense since he was not summoned to provide clarifications to the Commission.

On January 8, a few days after his successor President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took office, Bolsonaro supporters stormed the Congress, the seat of government and the Supreme Court in Brasília, causing significant damage. It was only hours later that the security forces brought the situation back under control. Lula accused Bolsonaro of inciting his supporters. The ex-president rejected the allegations. During the storming of the government district, Bolsonaro was in the USA.
