When going for a walk, one of the couple’s dogs breaks loose and runs onto the tracks. The man wants to bring the animal to safety from the approaching train – the rescue operation ends fatally for both of them.

During a Sunday walk in Bechtsbüttel near Braunschweig, a man and his dog were run over by a train and killed. The wife of the 56-year-old victim was in the accident, but could not help, according to police.
