Branko Milanović made a name for himself in the world of economics and social scientists with the “Elephant Curve” – a graphic that clearly shows the consequences of globalization for the social middle class in emerging and industrialized countries. The current 70-year-old was born in 1953 in what was then Yugoslavia, but has been teaching alongside Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman in economics at the City University of New York for many years. He was a senior economist at the World Bank for a long time and is now considered one of the most renowned experts in the field of income distribution and social inequality.
