BR opens new studio Franken in Nuremberg – Bavaria

Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) has opened a new media building in Nuremberg for an investment of 8.7 million euros. The broadcaster speaks of the “new studio Franken”, which was built three years ago. The 500 square meter building in the southwest of Nuremberg is to be used as a production facility for television, radio and online production, but also serves the broadcaster as an event hall or meeting and conference room. The BR in Franconia had complained about a lack of capacity, but in the wave of cuts by public broadcasters, which also affects employees, the new hall was also partly criticized. BR director Katja Wildermuth calls the multifunctional studio a “milestone” that “the entire BR” can be proud of. Studio manager Tassilo Forchheimer hopes that the building will help to depict “Franconia even better” in BR.
