After a serious accident in an indoor playground in the Bavarian community of Wertach (Oberallgäu district) at the end of April, the police are looking for witnesses.

As the responsible police headquarters in Swabia South/West announced this Wednesday, a five-year-old boy was seriously injured in an accident while playing on a bouncy castle on April 29 at around 5:20 p.m. The child was “suddenly and abruptly thrown into the air” and then landed next to the bouncy castle, according to the investigators.

Cause of the bouncy castle accident in the Allgäu unclear

The five-year-old suffered serious head injuries and had to be taken to hospital in a rescue helicopter. The boy is now “stable” again and “on the mend”.

Since then, the police have been investigating negligent bodily harm and possible breaches of duty. What exactly led to the accident is still unclear. At the time of the accident, young people are said to have been in the vicinity of the bouncy castle. The police did not provide any information about their possible role.

According to the “Allgäuer Zeitung”, the accident occurred in the “Allgäulino” indoor playground in Wertach, which, according to the operator, is one of the ten most popular destinations in the Allgäu. The indoor playground has more than 3000 square meters and numerous play equipment such as “Germany’s largest climbing castle”, a trampoline system or a giant slide.

The Immenstadt police asks witnesses to the incident to call (08323) 96100.
