The British boy band split up in 1996 before making a comeback in 2010. Today the band members look back on the events objectively: “Things start, things end and come back again.”
The boy band (“Back For Good”, “Never Forget”) around Gary Barlow and Mark Owen announced the end of the group in February 1996. A few months earlier, Robbie Williams (49) had already dropped out due to growing tensions.
In 2010, the Brits celebrated their comeback as a five-piece with the single “Shine”, which Williams still describes as an important part of his career. “There was so much bitterness, anger and frustration. It all suddenly fell silent and was buried,” Williams told dpa. “I just love them. They’re my brothers, they make me laugh and they’re fun to work with.”
Around a year after the reunion, the band members took another break and returned as a threesome in 2014. This Friday, Barlow, Owen and Donald release their ninth studio album “This Life”.
